Indian River CSD Board of Education Appoints Next Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and InstructionOn behalf of the Indian River Central School District Board of Education, President Thomas Lapp announces that Mrs. Christina Chamberlain, UpK-12 Curriculum Director for the District, has been appointed to the position of Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, effective July 1, 2021.

Christina Chamberlain is a high school graduate of Sackets Harbor Central, Class of 2000.  She earned her BA in English and Textual Studies and Secondary Education from Syracuse University. She then continued her education at Le Moyne College, earning her Masters in Education in the areas of Special Education and English Language Arts. After teaching in the classroom for twelve years, Christina pursued additional post-graduate education in Building and District Leadership through SUNY Oswego’s Educational Leadership program, earning her Certificate of Advanced Study, also notably receiving the Linda Tinelli Sheive Award and The Readling Award where, by peer nomination, she was voted the one most likely to make a significant contribution to the field of education.  Christina continues as a lifelong learner through participation in several professional development opportunities as a presenter and participant at the regional, state, and national levels.  

Christina has most recently held the position of UpK-12 Curriculum Director at Indian River Central School District, where her goals have included providing exceptional instructional opportunities to students by working with building and teacher leaders to ensure that they have the resources they need to foster these learning opportunities. Christina also held the position of Assistant Supervisor for Federal Programs and Special Education at IRCSD, where she led the district through several systematic shifts in order to improve current practices and increase learning opportunities for all students of the district. Her work to support students and staff in grades from UpK through high school has been exemplary.    

In response to her appointment by the Board of Education, Christina stated: “Indian River Central School District has a reputation for excellence, and I am proud to be a part of it.  I am honored for this opportunity to continue leading the district beyond the status quo.  I look forward to the continued partnership with administrators, teachers, staff, students, parents, community members, and the Board of Education in providing exceptional educational opportunities for the students of the district.” 

Mrs. Chamberlain is excited to begin her new role on July 1, 2021.
