REMINDER: Free Summer Food Program for Kids from July 6th to August 14th

Free Summer Food Program for Kids from July 6th to August 14thThe Community Action Planning Council of Jefferson County (CAPC) is offering a Summer Food Service Program!  When school is out, children lose access to free and reduced meal programs, putting a strain on the family grocery bill.  That’s where the Summer Food Service Program comes in!

Beginning July 6 through August 14, children have access to free, nutritious meals at 12 sites (operated by CAPC) in Jefferson County. For those familiar with this program, we will be operating slightly different this year due to COVID-19. Kids will be picking up a prepared bag with lunch and breakfast to take home to eat! Free meals are available to all children 18 years old and under (up to age 21 if disabled).

In the Indian River Central School District, meals will be available at Antwerp Primary School, Evans Mills Primary School, Philadelphia Primary School, and at the Theresa Recreation Center.  Families need to adhere to the time slots for those locations because the delivery trucks are on a very tight schedule.

Also, we want to let our families and individuals in our communities know that there will be a Philadelphia food box distribution held at the Fire Hall on July 11, so please watch for the link on the Community Action Planning Council website ( one week prior to sign up for this.
