Statement Regarding March 1, 2019 Shelter-in-Place at Indian River High SchoolAs you know, the welfare of our students, staff, and the community is our highest priority. This morning Indian River High School enacted a Shelter-In-Place protocol in response to a wild and disoriented animal on school premises.  As part of this response, our School Resource Officer was called to assist and dispatched the animal according to Sheriff’s Department protocol. This was done away from all school buildings and in a manner that would pose no risk to the safety of students or anyone on school property. Indian River Central School contacted the Department of Environmental Conservation who came, removed the animal, and will be conducting testing.  Any further updates on this situation will be provided as the District receives information.  We thank the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and the Department of Environmental Conservation for their assistance.  For more information, please see the District's School Safety webpage at https://www.ircsd.org/about_i_r_c_s_d/school_safety
