IRCSD earns School Safety Excellence Award for eleventh consecutive year

For the eleventh consecutive year, Indian River Central School District has earned the Utica National Insurance Group School Safety Excellence Award. We are one of three school districts in the JLBOCES to receive the 2017 award at the “Titanium with Honors” level.

Each year, the company recognizes school districts for their efforts as they work to help keep students, staff and visitors safe. We received the award and a $500 prize presented at Utica National’s 37th annual school safety seminar at the Hilton Garden Inn, Watertown.

Although the company insures more than 300 school districts, less than half qualify for the award. The award applauds school districts that go ‘above and beyond’ to provide a safe, healthy and focused culture for learning. It also helps districts focus on a safety program that helps pinpoint potential safety threats before something happens. Receiving the award are IRCSD Superintendent James Kettrick and School Resource Officer Deputy Sheriff Carrie Mangino.
